Just like DVDs, books have deleted scenes. Sometimes they’re deleted because they’re rubbish; other times it’s because they just don’t quite fit in the narrative flow of the book, or the book is too long and something has top go.

Here’s a fragment that didn’t quite merit its own chapter in Three Sheets to the Wind, but it seems a shame to waste it.
